Driving licence recognition or exchange

All persons who have acquired their legal residence in Spain and who hold a driving licence with an indefinite or a valid for more than 15 years validity for group 1 licences (AM, A1, A2, A and B), or for a period of more than 5 years for group 2 licences (C1 and BE), must have their driving licence homologated to a Spanish one.

This is also a mandatory procedure for all legal residents whose driving licence has expired or is about to expire.

What do we do?

We make it easy for you: we do EVERYTHING. Here is an explanation of our services regarding the exchange or recognition of driving licences:

• OPTION 1: We carry out the psychophysical fitness medical certificate required by the DGT. You can do this at our medical centre without needing to book an appointment (Monday to Saturday). You just need to bring your ID card or NIE, and the cost of the medical certificate is €38. We will issue you with the medical certificate on the spot, and you will need to present this document to the DGT to start the process, along with any other documentation they request.
• OPTION 2: We handle the complete procedure to have your driving licence homologated.

The documentation we will ask for will depend on your country of origin, so if you are interested in applying, you can call us or write to us on WhatsApp. In any case, here is a general summary:

• Medical certificate of fitness
• Original driving licence from your country
• Passport-sized photograph (26 x 32)
• Original ID card / NIE
• Certificate of conformity (depending on the country)
• Proof of residence in Spain (if your ID card/NIE shows a Spanish address, this is sufficient)
• Other documents
