Medical certificate for taxis in Barcelona
The regulations governing taxis in the Barcelona metropolitan area have been changing in recent years. An example is the recent disappearance of the BTP licence.
Currently, the Barcelona City Council is promoting a new licence to drive a taxi, and, like any other driving licence, it requires a specific medical certificate to obtain.
You can visit the Travessera Medical Centre whenever you wish, and by simply presenting your ID card we can issue the medical certificate. This is because it must be an official medical centre, accredited by the DGT, the Catalan Traffic Service and the Department of Health.
Driving licences
– Car driving licence – Licence B
– Motorcycle and moped driving licence – Licence AM, A, A1 and A2
– Lorry driving licence – Licence C1 and C
– Bus driving licence – Licence D

Did you know that the BTP driving licence no longer exists?
The aim is to align with the existing licence categories in the European Driving Licence.
Holders of a BTP will be able to continue driving the vehicles for which they were previously required to hold this licence, regardless of whether they have to meet the requirements set out in sectoral rules.
BTP holders will not need to amend their driving licence. When they renew their category B licence, the BTP mention will no longer appear on the new document.
