Both for obtaining the initial authorisation and for its renewal, the Law requires that security guards have a suitable physical and mental fitness to carry out their duties.
These assessments are intended to certify that a person who is practising or wishes to practise as a security guard can obtain or renew their authorisation by undergoing the necessary medical and psychological examinations.

The medical certificate must be accompanied by a current passport photograph; if you do not have one, we can take it for you at the centre free of charge.
Requirements to be a security guard
– Be between 18 and 55 years of age.
– Be a national of one of the Member States of the European Union or a State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area.
– Have, or be able to obtain, a Secondary School Leaving Certificate (ESO), a technical qualification, or other qualifications equivalent for professional purposes, or higher.
– Possess the physical fitness and mental capacity required to perform the duties of a security guard (to possess and use weapons and to provide private security services).
– Have no criminal record.
– Not have been convicted of an unlawful infringement of the right to honour, personal and family privacy, and image, of the secrecy of communications, or of other fundamental rights in the 5 years preceding the application.
– Not have been sanctioned for a serious security offence in the 2 years prior to the application, or for a very serious offence in the 4 years prior to the application.
– Not have been dismissed from the Armed Forces or Security Forces and Corps.
– Not have exercised supervisory functions over private security, surveillance or investigation entities, services or operations, or their personnel or resources, as a member of the security forces and bodies in the two years prior to the application.
– Possess the diploma or certification evidencing successful completion of the relevant course(s) from private security training centres authorised by the Secretariat of State for Security.
